Optical Seismology: The Next Era in Seismic Sensing
13 – 16 October 2026 | Kona, Hawaii
The field of seismic sensing techniques is evolving rapidly. Join us at the 2026 SSA topical conference to stay at the forefront of the changes.
Co-organized by the Australian Research Council’s Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science (COMBS), our meeting offers an intentionally intimate setting to enable thoughtful one-on-one discussions with experts in this emerging field.
Picking up on the conversation we started at SSA’s 2024 topical meeting, together we’ll explore such critically important topics as optical frequency combs, optical interferometry, Fiber Bragg grating, optical polarimeters for rotational sensing, trends in miniaturization, 3D DAS, low-cost nodal instrumentation, rotational seismic sensing, high-rate GNSS, quantum gravimeters and citizen science sensors.
In addition to lectures and posters, attendees can engage with sponsors and participate in special equipment demonstrations during all receptions. Stay tuned — abstract submissions and reservations for our discounted block of hotel rooms will open in early 2026!
Pre-Meeting Keck Observatory Workshop
Tuesday, 13 October

Join us at the Keck Observatory to explore the fundamentals of DAS technology. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to use computational tools to analyze DAS data and enjoy a demo of optical frequency microcombs courtesy of our friends at COMBS. Anyone may sign up to attend, but preference will be given to student and early-career scientists.
Topical Meeting 2026
Program Co-Chairs
The COMBS and SSA communities are grateful to our meeting leaders for cultivating this exciting and informative program.
Request a Visa Letter of Support
SSA recommends international participants apply for visas as early as possible before the Optical Seismology: The Next Era in Seismic Sensing Meeting. Please remember to contact your consulate to determine the wait time for an interview.
